Whilst Friday night session is the shortest of the 4 days there were some gems to be found. By far the highlight of the night was the performance by Montaigne on the Novatech stage. Wow what a voice and lots of energy. Totally captivating and someone I’ll be aiming to see again sometime soon ( She is playing also at Groove in the Moo in April 2017). Also managed to fit in the Hot 8 Brass band from New Orleans, Xylouris White, Oumou Sangare and part of the Attractor Dancenorth and Lucy Guerin show which had quite loud live “grunting/screaming” which at times seemed excessive but offset by some great dancing.

Well the day is finally upon us and Womadelaide 2017 Festival kicks off. Here is a sneak peak at a few of the artists who gave us a sample of the festival ahead
Brushy One String, The Soil and the roving dodos from company Cie Ekart.
Ive been asking friends who they are looking forward to see at Womadelaide. For many people the answer is Monday nights main stage performance by The Specials. They came to Adelaide for the first time in 2012, so they must have enjoyed the experience. If you love Ska and have your dancing shoes on make sure you catch them.
Here is some snippets from their Thebarton theatre show in 2012
The Waifs are an Australian band heralding from WA that are playing a one off performance at Womadelaide Saturday March 8th 2017 at 8pm on the main stage. They have been around since 1992 and I caught them playing at the Gov in Feb 2009. The Waifs have enjoyed a string of tracks that have had success particularly their 2003 Album “up all night”

Jesse Davidson is fairly new to the music scene having got Airplay with Triple J unearthed. Jesse is playing a single show at the Moreton Bay stage 4pm on Sunday. I caught him on a previous tour with the Laneway Festival in 2015

A couple more acts were added to the already impressive list of performers. This one especially will excite listeners from the JJJ crowd who were already pretty excited about seeing Montaigne who was announced earlier.
AB Original were added which will excite fans of Aussie HipHop. I caught them in for the first time in 2016 at Oakbank Groove in the Moo and they put on a great show. The full gallery of images from GTM can be found here .. CLICK
