When I was invited to Sac and Sams BBQ Jam at Westbeach skate ramp it was the perfect opportunity to check out the RX100 Mk5 HFR mode. I’d already carried out some testing so was keeping the footage at 250fps to keep the quality up. Unfortunately I had other commitments that day so couldnt stay to see the bands play, but I did have some previous footage of Shirtfront playing so used some Audio from the live gig at South Coast Raw to overlay the footage.
I had the pleasure of being asked to work on the short film by Stinga T “The Protectors” which was shot on a tight 2 day Schedule at Locations at the old Adelaide Gaol and up at Humbug Scrub near One Tree hill. I was taking Still Photographs of the shoot and some Behind the Scenes footage. Great Crew to work with
Here is a short intro to the film from Writer, Director and Actor in the film Thibul Nettle (aka Stinga T )
South Coast Raw events are held down at Noarlunga Football club and last night 11th November featured 3 local Adelaide bands. Great event put on by the South Coast Raw Crew and only $5 entry and reasonably priced drinks.
First up was Shed Theory
Second band for the night was Chaos Swing
and Finally to Cap the night of was Shirtfront
The Video for the 2015 Adelaide Zombie walk has finally been released. It took a lot longer than I had expected so apologies first up for the delay. Shot on a Panasonic GH4 with a 12-35mm F/2.8 lens. Edited on Premiere Cs6 with accompanying music “Zombie Barbie” by Levitika used with permission. Levitika also performed at the after show party so I incorporated footage from the performance into the event footage
What an Awesome and long show by The Cure Friday night in Adelaide. I saw them perform live at the same venue last century back early 90s. Robert Smith might be a bit more grey but still has an amazing voice and stage presence, although the voice started to falter near the end of the 3 hour set understandably so after playing a similar length gig the night previous in Melbourne.
Just over 3 weeks now until Womadelaide 2016 Kicks off and boy what a lineup this year. Like every year there are performers you know well and there are others you don’t know so well but you soon discover them. A real mixed bag with some big acts from the 80s and 90s such as The Violent Femmes ( who I saw back in 198? at LeRox in Light square ) and DeLaSoul who had some massive hits in the early 90s.
Then still a good smattering of what some consider the more traditional Womadelaide bands like Seun Kuti and Egypt 80, Angélique Kidjo performing with the ASO as well as Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
To start the weekend off on Friday night there’s also one of Womads favourites, The Cat Empire who seem to have performed there more times than I have fingers – ok maybe an exaggeration but I reckon this would be their 4th time in the last 12 or so years. Hopefully someone will look it up and correct me.
St Germain play Sunday night and although I hadn’t heard much of them 4 months ago, a friend of mine was hugely excited when they announced them playing also, so Ive checked out some of their albums and will definitely be watching them. I cant believe I hadnt heard much of their stuff previously.
My list thus far is only touching the surface, there is so much more talent on show this year it’s going to be tough to consume it all in the 4 days. Over the next few weeks I will look indepth at a few more of the performers you can catch at Womadelaide.
For those who want to relive some memories from 2015 Womadelaide you can check out a compilation of Video snippets. It might also give those who havent attended before and thinking about going a taste of the diversity to be found at Womadelaide. There is always something for everyone. For a few years now Ive had R/C Helicopters but they have not really been suitable for capturing footage. The Quadcopters I looked at a few years back were OK at flight but lacking in the Video/Photography areas. Early in 2015 I had the chance to Fly the original Yuneec Q500. I was impressed with the stability, but the camera it came with was a bit lacking.
Fast forward 6 months and they have released the 4K camera version and here is some footage from that setup.
